Student Research Assistant

Fall Semester 2026- Student Research Assistant 

The PHARR Centre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Research Assistant for a four-month position starting in September 2026 to support community-engaged research focused on enhancing the quality of life of people living with dementia in rural communities.

This position offers hands-on experience in health and social science research and is ideal for students interested in aging, dementia, rural health, wildfire preparedness, public policy, community development, or graduate studies.

Responsibilities

The Student Research Assistant will support a variety of research and knowledge mobilization activities, including:

  • Assisting with qualitative research interviews and focus groups
  • Supporting scoping and literature reviews
  • Assisting with data organization and analysis
  • Supporting the planning and facilitation of World Café and community engagement workshops
  • Contributing to newsletters, website content, and social media communications
  • Assisting with research reports, presentations, and knowledge translation activities
  • Providing general administrative and project support as required

Qualifications

Applicants should be:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Interested in community-engaged research, aging, dementia, rural health, or health services research
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools

Students in Nursing, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Public Health, Health Sciences, and related disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.
